The Grail Castle: Male Myths & Mysteries in the Celtic Tradition (Llewellyn's Men's Spirituality Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (January, 1995)
Average review score:

The essense of the Quest.
An entertaining trip for men who desire a deeper look withinIn today's world of increasing balance between the sexes, sometimes men's spirituality is left unexamined or even ignored. No longer! This book delves deeply into the male side of myth and mysticism and seeks to help men answer difficult questions such as: What do I really want out of life? Why do I feel the need to bury my feelings? How can I become more fulfilled and complete a person? With a mix of psychology and Celtic mythology, the authors examine the four male archtypes -- Warrior, Lover, Magician, and King -- and through stories and examples help men analyze their motivations, how they think, what they lack, and finally, how to heal and to start down the road of wholeness on all levels of life. Included is a quiz to discover which of the four archtypes one embodies the most and meditations to promote understanding of your archtype(s). This book is one of the best on male spirituality out there, especially if you already have an interest in Celtic culture.

Greater Vancouver City Maps Book

Don't Leave Home Without ItI actually bough my first one from a gas station when I was hopelessly lost in Vancouver. It quickly got me "un-lost". Since that day this book has become an indispensable part of any road trip to Vancouver. (If you plan on venturing further out of the city I'd recommend you get the Frazier Valley City Maps Book, too.)
It became so indispensable that I am now buying a second one so that both my husband and I can each have one in the car. The nice part is that at this price, you can easily afford to do that.
Great value for your moneycolorful, easy to read, accurate and very affordable...I use this for business and to give clients....they love it too!

Green Plans: Greenprint for Sustainability (Our Sustainable Future, Vol 7)
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Nebraska Pr (May, 1995)
Average review score:

Green Plans : a book with a visionGreen Plans are comprehensive, integrated and large-scale national environmental strategies. H. J. Johnson shows us what Green Plans are and what they are not. His examples of pioneering countries, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Canada are very convincing. He shows how those very different countries have developed innovative Green Plans, how they translated the concept of sustainability in practical strategies and action plans. His personal experience, as head of California's Resources Agency, from 1977 to 1982, in developing a comprehensive resource strategy, called Investing For Prosperity (IFP) gave him a basic understanding of Green Plans. He gives us a very good overall view of Green Plans, their ingredients for success, their principles and techniques and the new relationship needed between government and business. His clear vision for the United States should be read by all politicians and concerned citizens. It is still very actual. Of the many books published in environmental protection and sustainable development, this book should be on all bookshelves. And it is a real pleasure to read.
Green Plans outlines how to do integrated planning.Green Plans is not a book about how bad things are today; it is a book about how good things can be tomorrow. It lays out the global environmental problems (and there are a lot of them) in a brutally honest manner, but it does not dwell on them. Instead, it focuses on what is being done, and what must be done on a global and national scale to alleviate our ecological dilemmas. Green Plans is about solutions, and although these solutions are at a national scale, the implementation must be done on an individual level. Herein lies the strength of Green Plans. Johnson writes with a contagious enthusiasm which leaves the reader with the knowledge and desire to help make a difference. Green Plans is a must read not only for planners and government officials but also for business leaders, environmentalists, and concerned citizens alike.

Greenberg Guides Lionel Trains: Pocket Price Guide (Greenberg's Pocket Price Guide to Lionel Trains, 2001)
Published in Paperback by Kalmbach Publishing Company (October, 2000)
Average review score:

trainsBoth of these books helped me to date my personal train set as well as a train set that had belonged to my cousin that was given to me quite a while ago.I discontinued playing with my trains and fell out of touch with Lionel products many years ago as one book says the space age took them over. I still get out my trains and enjoy them. These books have opened a door that I thought closed a long time ago. Thank you so much, DMP
Greenberg's Price Guide For Lionel Trains. They made some good changes with this edition. They added subcategories to some items ie. colors and details. They also arranged the modern era(1970-2001)in one section by number instead of by each of the owners of Lionel. Lastly, the prices in the guide are still realistic instead of overinflated.

Handcuff Blues: Helping Teens Stay Out of Trouble with the Law
Published in Paperback by Goofy Foot Press (28 January, 1999)
Average review score:

Troubled Youth Loved This BookAs a volunteer working with boys in the juvenile justice system, I was able to read this book to some troubled youths at a residential treatment center. They thought the book was terrific--not only did they identify with the cases described, but the legal afternotes provoked much discussion about the consequences of their own actions. It is written at a level that even the boys with limited verbal skills could understand it.
Handcuff BluesOur Gov't. class just finshed the book Handcuff Blues & it was one of the best book that I have hered. The story in the book are about different people geting in trouble w\ the law & it is a cool book to read. We want more books like that because it tell about different laws in different stats.

Handmade Cards: Simple Designs for Beautiful Card

Average review score:

Great book and kitI just received this and I was very impressed. Along with the book (beautiful designs that can be expanded on), it comes with 20+ sheets of paper, a measuring grid (plastic-type material), a folding tool and several types of templates (for cards, mini envelopes, etc.; durable material). I can't wait to get started making cards.
Excellent book with great ideas! This book is great for simple, yet impressive cards. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I like the details that go into the projects which make the cards very unique, not overwhelming or gaudy. Perfect for giving to little kids and adults alike.

Harmonica Method Book 1: With CD
Published in Paperback by Koala Publications (April, 1997)
Average review score:

Harmonica Method For BeginnersThis is the forth harmonica book I have purchased and it is the best so far. The music is complete; not like other books with only parts of songs. The size of the book is good because the music is not compressed and allows easy reading. I also like the songs in it. I must say that I have no musical abillity and I was able to play songs in a short a time. If I were to buy one book this would be the one.
It is a great beginners bookIt was a great book. I had never picked up a musical instument or looked at a sheet of music before. Now I'm pretty good and can play Ode To Joy by Beethoven.

Harold and the Purple Crayon (Spanish edition) : Harold y el lapiz color morado
Published in Hardcover by RAYO (May, 1995)
Average review score:

Purple classic. My mother teaches preschool to mostly Spanish-speakers, so this was a must have. A very good translation of the beloved English classic.
Tan encantador en español como en inglés (Just as charming)Even grownups enjoy this imaginative story of a boy whose purple crayon takes him on a magical journey. The Spanish translation retains all the magic of the English original, such that a friend in his 20s became glued to the book when I first brought it to his attention. Caution: Although the story is understandable to children as young as 3 or 4, it is longer than it looks! Begin the story only if you are prepared to read for a little while, but once you do, you'll enjoy the trip.

A Guide to Marine Coastal Plankton and Marine Invertebrate Larvae
Published in Paperback by Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company (June, 1996)
The book welds the ancient celtic myths with Jungian type theory. I defy a man not to see himself as a Warrior/Hero, Lover, Magician/Wiseman, or King/Father (as expressed positively or negatively.) The book points out that as we mature we may evolve towards a more mature archetype (i.e. from Warrior or Lover towards Magician or King.) This is the result of the Quest, for both the true Magician and true King have descended into hell, and returned, to earn their gifts. There is a sophisticated understanding here that we are not supposed to strive to be an equal, homogenous, conglomeration of all these roles, but that there are separate, mature, archetypes that we are to embrace and develope towards during a lifetime. Like an acorn, we are to grow towards oakhood, or if an pine cone, to pinehood.
Here also is the explanation of the "The World Tree" universal to all mythologies. This tree is the link between the worlds, with it's branches in heaven and it's roots in hell. It is that which magician and shaman must be crucified on to transcend the world- or be destroyed. Indeed, there is a profound understanding here of shamanhood- and an emphasis on the complexity of this role.
This book also explains the failure and despair in so many modern lives. The sacred wound that never heals- the inability to accept and grow in spiritual undestanding. The wasteland resulting in a failed king's inability so realise that he and the land, and the people, are one....
I seldom say that I love it book, too many people use that phrase too carelessly. But this book of deep truth, deep myth, deep wisdom, I do not hesitate to say that I truly and deeply love.
